I am sure both signs can do with some new beginnings and this is the day for both of you to celebrate the same.This one falls at 24 56, almost 25 degrees Cancer.
Cancerians or that “type“ have been attracting via their opposite sign ruler, Saturns transit through Pisces, more Piscean type people than usual, such a change from the Aquarian air sign types of the last three years until March.
Cancerians who love taking care of others had to learn in that last three years how to step back a bit, even use the Aquarian ruled internet more for work or contacting family.
In fact we the people are "ruled" by Cancer so we all had to do the same.
So now with the Pisces effect, Cancerians who love taking care of people are back in their element with their concern for others except for some Pisces types who can appear as victims to life who may throw more burdens on their shoulders than they expected to have. So some Crabs may be losing patience already and needing stronger boundaries, caring for self more.
On the other hand Piscean types can also be highly spiritual, wonderful healers etc so it stands to reason that many Cancerian type people are also interacting more with creative and more spiritual/healer type friends or those who have other Piscean abilities and using the same qualities within self for new directions.
Cancerians are a water sign so they naturally do attract this sort of person but they do need to make sure they are taking care of self first and foremost, honoring their own child within in the two years ahead. Reflection is a wonderful thing and brings many gifts and lessons too.

Pluto is basically squaring the nodes now and in the coming days which is a powerful aspect of deep intense transformation, a destiny or karmic rebirth for the planet and all on it at 29 degrees Capricorn and Libra/Aries .
This in itself is enough to show this is no ordinary New Moon .
By the time of the crescent Moon the Sun itself will be opposing Pluto suggesting the world is quite definitely changing. And the strong Mars opposing Saturn aspect before that on 20th /21st is thankfully cushioned by a trine from Sun to Pluto on the same day.
The last days of Sun in Cancer are powerful and all about we the people, so more and more we are becoming aware of that.
Now we learn how to balance our personal power with that of others to create harmony. Not an easy task in a 3 dimensional world but if we can manage to obtain glimpses of the 4th or even 5th now and again it becomes easier.
