The east side of Austin and beyond is known as the Blackland Prairie and has long been used for cultivation. However, the population growth in central Texas and the demand for housing are encroaching on our best crop land.

Similar agrihoods are spread across the country in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, and Vermont; a 1,150-acre agrarian development called Harvest is underway in Argyle, Texas, near Denton.
