“America's Coup Machine: Destroying Democracy Since 1953; U.S. efforts to overthrow foreign governments leave the world less peaceful, less just and less hopeful.”

“Top Russian officials are concerned that a bill passed by the US Congress will do more than increase sanctions on North Korea. Moscow claims H.R. 1644 violates its sovereignty and constitutes an “act of war.” … “What caught the eye of Russian critics was Section 104, the part of the bill that presumed to grant the US “inspection authorities” over shipping ports (and major airports) far beyond the Korean Peninsula – specifically, ports in China, Russia, Syria, and Iran.” Huh???????...

RE - children in Texas belong to the state

I live in Texas and was stunned at that headline and article, so I did some research. First of all, the article does not say all children in Texas belong to the state. The law refers to children taken into protective custody. Granted that is an unfortunate choice of words, but the statement refers to children who are removed from an unsafe home environment. I agree that we have a tremendously flawed system, with many children slipping through the cracks, as well as some who end up there through error. However, the intent of the proposed law was to provide medical assessment to children who come into the system. Lack of medical knowledge has never stopped our legislature from making laws, but fortunately, in this case, the amendment for mandatory vaccines (with the exception of an emergency tetanus shot) was dropped from the house bill. The session is over, and I believe it is now awaiting the governor's signature.

The author of this article concludes with the "slippery slope" argument that it might just be possible for protective services to accidentally take any child into custody, administer vaccines and then return them to the parents with an "oops". I have to say that I am disappointed in this article because of the obvious bias, as opposed to reporting of the facts.
