Texas is having blazing August temps now. We have our own energy grid and the managers asked that everyone conserve electricity into the near future, because some plants are offline for repairs. As we all clearly recall the lack of electricity (and heat) during the single digit temps in February, I can assure you everyone is cutting back on usage.
One of the most famous flags of the Texas Revolution is the Gonzales Flag, which was flown when the people of Gonzales fought and defeated a group of Mexican soldiers who came for the cannon. It was made from the white wedding dress of a young woman with an image of the cannon and the words "Come and Take It" sewn on in black.
So in our hearts - we are thinking this....

My thumb has developed a blister peeling all the perception filters off.
That's pretty much how the fireworks felt last night. People really were fired up. 
EDIT - and tonight, too. sounded and looked like a whole fireworks stand went up somewhere southwest of us. More disturbing than cool.

Geez, I'm glad you put this in the Silly Memes thread, because, you know, there are some of us who would believe this kind of news. Looks like it was pretty impressive, catherine wheels and all.
That cat certainly did well growing those zucchinis!
Came across this photo on a bad driver thread, but I have to admit that my first reaction was "Dang, I would not have come up with that". Granted, there are reasons not to attempt it, but still..... So I made my own meme.
I'm just glad the inevitable motor bike and dinghy weren't stacked on top of the ute's roof.

Oh dear, feathers for the eiderdown (eider means goose (maybe duck?) feathers - the soft underside ones); and in China, duckling is on the menu! But look at their pond! That's like taking turns at the roller skating rink.
