Ray Kurzweil Answers The Question, "Do You Believe In God?"

Do you believe in God? This is the question that computer scientist, American author, inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil answers in this short clip below.

What I feel is that there is an innate aspect within us which has a connection leading out of this dimension, back to where we are from, and this is why so many people feel a pull towards something outside of themselves. The source of that pull is what I would classify as being part of god, or source, which is my preferred term.

Through a lot of spiritual development work I have come to a knowing around my source, and what makes up everything around me, so I have moved beyond belief and I now just know that god is real, but my understanding of ‘God’ is very different...

I am religious but not belonging to One religion and in the same way, feel godliness is closer than god as a description. I have read and searched in descriptions where it can be, that resonates as home more than i felt here. I found in my heart, neither i belong this or that planet, but the source is something else which i feeł as the divine counsciousness. I dont think its possible to describe in words but if i would i imagine a lighthouse of the highest form of compassion which we can feel glimpses of the more our hearts Open and the more compassionate we become.

I loved the way you expressed your thoughts on this topic Anna.

I do feel that each of us are god, or source, and can gain the ability to not only return to our source(s), but manifest and create just like we would if we were that ‘god’ — which we are.

So what this really means is that people are searching for something that is already inside themselves; from self focus and self-development, which includes a great deal of healing and practical effort to gain direct experience, we can find that within and connect into the link which has always been there.

So many people are searching externally, looking for answers here and there, constantly taking in new information, but all the answers are already with us!

Like with most things, the saying goes that it’s easier said than done. Perhaps one of my goals for the Roundtable is to have a space where I can help people in a more meaningful way to actually ‘do’ rather than ‘search’.

You nailed it Laron. I 100% agree. I've had a winding path getting to the same perspective, but here I am.

I feeł that you already share a lot of Good and welldescriptive methods of how to actually do things aswell as others in this forum and why partly why i chose this particular forum. When you wrote that the best way to deal with ego is by directly catching the elements. I thought, maybe there can be a tricky part, to Catch the ways in how it appears to you. When i see my ego for exameple, it many Times shows in a picture, as an entity, doing things and with the colours and all. I didnt learn how to Catch these Pictures and work with them until later in life even though i had them all life cause i compared myself too much to others and it wasnt normal. I dont know what was my point other than i feeł this forum gives many practical ideas aswell as space where One can bring out ones autentic beeing.

As this is also about Kurzweil's statement, I would like to say that I am a bit surprised that he does not give a full-blown materialistic view given his background as the leading 'trans-humanist' who wants to turn humans into machines and 'load their minds onto computer drives' or whatever.

At least he admits that consciousness is somehow a mystery to us, even science. That's something. On the other hand I do not like his quote about 'extinguish consciousness' by killing/taking lives, maybe he meant extinguish human life, not sure though.

That makes perfect sense to me. That is why I mentioned the other day that it can be seen as separate, or part of us, as it depends on how we perceive it and understand it. If I talked to it right now I would honor it for being part of my existence because it is really the greatest teacher we have here, from its influence on our every day actions, especially if we are regulars of the Earth school coming back life after life.

I don't believe in god as in the biblical definition. To me it just reeks of the need to control and a very hollow human concept. I believe we all inhibit the spark of the divine we are all god we are all one and the same I think it's more important to have faith in yourself and look within for our answers than looking to an imaginary man in the sky. Although when I pray i thank the universe every day for my blessings. I revere the mysteries of the planet and universe and nature that is where the true power lies not in the human word or interpretation of supposed word it just seems a bit convenient to me to suit the agenda of those in power saying that if it gives someone faith and hope I'm all for that each to their own it's not anyone else's place to tell anyone what to believe I think religion is subjective

I guess that the definition of God or the perception of this greater Source is different for everyone. For me, the God of religions is an individual soul, a being, while I find the Source through Science and Pantheism, being that these two acknowledge the physical and the invisible as the wholeness. Science through the scientific method of research sees things through the lens of pure observation and wonder, without personal feelings or beliefs. For sciences, what we call spirit or ether they call it dark energy and dark matter. Those two are the only approaches where I find my inner peace and in my own capacity to empower myself, to create and to perceive. :)

I don't find any one God remarkable, I have not been inducted into Christianity in this life, although I'm sure I've lived as either monks or nuns in other lives. I do believe in many Lesser Gods, which have been imposed on us, and we are seeing them today as they really are: non-human life forms, perhaps only living in a mental state dimension.

Source, however, is just the other side of the lake of potential, called Wu Ji. While I cannot penetrate directly into Source without encountering layers of interpretations and multi-dimensional meanings, I believe our connection with Source has never been cut and all fractals forming in our holographic world are the outpouring of potentiality in a boundless sea of potential.

Joy is ours for the taking, and may be the one unwavering emotion that is experienced by Source and naturally related on by osmosis to all creation.

I believe in Creator Source. Creator or Source is consciousness that has always been and always will be. It's the energy that sparked life into the Universes.

God is just a human made name so people can call Source by a name.
