I'm an ex drummer (today: all instruments including my voice on the computer - once a musician, always a musician) and so of course still into drums, but I would post too much here and also people would be bored too fast |-), but I might search sth with 'accessible' music behind it, so it's not just drums solo.

(Of course I could post Neil Peart or Bonham, but that would be too obvious then .. ;) )

Nice smilies btw. :-D

Just post whatever you like Sinera. I'm a music lover too I will never get bored. As for the rest of rhe guys here? Dunno seems we music lovers are a amall minority. Quite alright. I never ran with the crowd anyway. So post whatever I love new music and wanna hear somethinh new anyway. I was a musician in high school too I played the clarinet and a bit of sax. Also studied some music theory so I have a good grasp on music. My favorite instruments arw guitar and keyboards. I'm just getting warmed up sharing music you'll see I have a wide taste in music. You don't need to stick to the classics classical is good too.

Yeah, I'll post some more stuff, just ran out of time now, but maybe tomorrrow, not just drum-related, need to do some (re)search. Sometimes it is difficult to choose the best song/vid from an artist you like or you would have to put to many YT links here. Hard choices.

the way i see it is just post whatever comes to mind at the moment. Music, like literature, is hugely varied. I think post what you like rather then what you think others will like to hear. I'll be posting a wide range of stuff depending on my mood.

I remember 1983 when I was in school and 90125 came out. Of course most knew it because of Owner Of A Lonely Heart back then. But I loved other tunes, especially 'Changes'. But also 'It can happen' and 'Leave It'. The entire album was a masterpiece actually.

As soon as I was old enough to sing, this was one of my favorite songs. Good today too.

I have a secret wish that involves music.

The Background - When I was a little girl, my mom had little interest in fashion or hairstyles. So, my only exposure to this mysterious world was through my friends' older sisters. A couple of them would let us hang out while they got ready for dates. What a magical process this was - putting hair up in a french twist, make-up, petticoats. It was a ritual, and I felt part of a secret world. One of the big groups at that time was Frankie Valle and the Four Seasons. Not exactly my kind of music (I am a rock-n-roll gal), but I have warm memories of playing those 45 records.

The secret wish - I want to dance down the street in joy and enthusiasm with a group of people.

Which brings us to the closing credits of The Jersey Boys.

I "grew up" in the seventies.A lot of progressive rock, blues, folk , Floyd etc. A lot of my friends were musicians. Fun days....

As announced in the other thread about Native American spirituality, here's some 'real' Native American stuff. I remember I searched for it already years ago not finding a lot except the more 'cheesy' westernized stuff with keyboard backgrounds which I do not like because it does not sound 'real' like the vintage original stuff.

Thank goodness a few years later now YT got much better in this regard. And we have the Traditional Music Channel as the best source it seems. There is lots of other (so-called) "Ethnic/World music" stuff that is great there (Indian, African, European, Asian and many more). Check it out. Often I like sth of this as background play. Most of it is soothing and calming to me.

Btw, I found it because it was as a subscribed channel of one of my favourite drummer artists. Shows that she (yes, it's a woman drummer and composer) has great taste and influence. I will post some of her stuff here too.

So here's the Native American playlist and an example song (second vid). Of course it is unusual for 'western' ears if accustomed to our forms of music be it classical or 'pop' or rock. Anyway, it is good to escape from that once in a while.

Another instalment, this time from Western progressive alternative metal/rock music. "Anonymous" is an album based on Native American original traditionals. The band's name is telling: Tomahawk. As far as I know they are not Native Americans though. The singer and mastermind is Mike Patton best known for being the frontman of Faith No More.

Here we go, the entire album:

Anonymous is the third studio album by the musical supergroup Tomahawk. It was released on June 19, 2007 through Ipecac Recordings, the record label owned by Tomahawk vocalist Mike Patton. Anonymous charted in Australia, Norway and the United States.
Recorded after the departure of bass player Kevin Rutmanis, the songs on Anonymous are based on Native American compositions researched by guitarist Duane Denison. The album has received mildly positive reviews, being described as faithful to its source material. One single, "Sun Dance", was released to support the album.

This one in particular makes me feel lots of emotions because it reminds me of the great fall in consciousness and how difficult are relationships after our initial loving state:

From the very first string that is plucked I am drawn into the past with this song. My son learned to play it when he was a teenager for my birthday many birthdays ago and it's still a favorite.

Yeah. Playing the solo partly with the hands made him (amongst other things such as his ground breaking heavy rock style and sound) immortal and an inspiration for drummers and rock fans alike.

I was poking around You tube and came across it, You came to mind when i saw it lol. I haven't seen that in a while. You tube has a lot of live footage that in the past, before the internet, would have been hard to find. I had a lot of friends that played in bands we used to swap music all the time. That was back in the 70's and 80's

3rd installment of my Native American series. One of my favourite bands.

Lipans are an Apache tribe.
Very cool - the Lipan Apache originally came from Canada and migrated into what is now Texas. They lived right where I do now before the Comanche pushed them farther south.

I am very interested in this music. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention.:thumbsups

I realize my musical tastes are far-afield from most , but here's my choices to share - I like mixing up my genres, as each song becomes new when heard once again:
Male Soloist - pensive blues, penetrating message: Hozier "Take Me to Church"
Pipe Organ- completely exuberant, joyous!: Theodore Dubois "Grand Choeur in B-Flat Major" Music starts at the 1:20 mark.
Two male singers - pensive, reverent, uplifting: Les 7 paroles du Christ (The 7 Last Words of Christ): Second Word
Anything by Klaatu (okay, this dates me - but the lyrics seem to have been written from Transients.info ....)
Montavoni, Willie Nelson/Julio Iglesias, and on and on.

While I've recently started to investigate 432Hz music, haven't pulled anything favorite from there as yet....

I like eclectic - it fills so many niches.

I was surprised at the music available in 432 hz - even found some Steely Dan.

Here's something you don't find everyday. Love the energy. In their concert videos they have a dancer.
I love folk music of all kinds. This kind of (Eastern Europe?) Blasmusik (folk wind music, trumpets etc.) reminds me of what I had to do in my youth years but I loved it. In Germany we also have a lot of "Blasmusik" and I had to play some gigs for friends and on weddings and parties with a few friends of mine who all did this kind of music. First I did not like it because I regarded myself as a 'serious rock music drummer', but as a friend and as s.o. with a kind of humour they always convinced me to join them (and they had no other drummer available ...:-D). So of course I did and it was always fun and I have fond memories of it. It is easier to play of course than what I played with my melodic prog rock band, but that had the advantage that I could get drunk on German beer while still being able to play it which made it even easier for me :D.
(And yes, beer and blasmusik is the infamous and indespensible Oktoberfest combination too. Prost!)
